Due to a last-minute cancellation, we are unexpectedly able to offer the week of 28 April to 5 May 2017, which takes in the May Day bank holiday weekend. This is a week that always gets booked well in advance and is now one of the few remaining slots available this summer.
It is a stunning time to visit the Yorkshire Dales. The trees are all in leaf displaying their many shades of green; bluebells and other late Spring flowers carpet the woodland floors; and the bird song is at its best led by the characteristic calls of the skylarks and curlews. Lengthening days also mean that you can really make the most of your holiday and there's plenty to enjoy in the local area with the many extra bank holiday events and celebrations.
Over the weekend itself, nearby Constable Burton Hall hosts its renowned Tulip Festival with a spectacular display of over 6,500 bulbs of traditional and new varieities (pictured); Richmond Castle has a WW1 re-enactment event complete with storytelling and dramatic performances; and Beamish Museum has a May Day festival featuring music, maypole dancing and traditional crafts.
If you are a lover of outdoor pursuits, then why not follow the Tour de Yorkshire cycling event from 28 - 30 April? Day two's route from Tadcaster to Harrogate is within easy travelling distance and promises to be an amazing spectacle with thousands taking part. Alternatively, make your way through the myriad of walking paths and bridleways that criss cross this specatacular part of Britain.
