Richmond celebrates Yorkshire Tour route announcement

Nearby Richmond has been revelaed as the starting point for stage 3 of next year's Tour de Yorkshire cycle race.

Attracting some of the world's top riders, the four-day event takes place from Thursday 3 May to Sunday 6 May 2018 and is expected to see over 2million spectators line the route. We still have availability at The Old Vicarage during this time so why not book now and be part of this amazing event.

The race will assemble in the historic market town of Richmond for stage 3 on Saturday 5 May. The riders will race out of the town's cobbled market place and head to Catterick Garrison where the starting flag will be lowered. The 184km route will then take in Leyburn, Morton-on-Swale, Northallerton and Thirsk before crossing into the North York Moors and the notorious Sutton Bank climb. The action will then move to Helmsley, Pickering and Scarborough before a concluding loop from Scarborough to Filey seafront and back to Scarborough for the finish.

The following and final day will see the route return to the Yorkshire Dales when it takes in Embsay, Wharfedale, Kettlewell, Kilnsey, Coverdale, Middleham and Masham.

The race showcases some of the UK's most spectacular countryside and highlights the area's strong repuation for cycling.
