Our resident Highland Cattle did exceptionally well at this summer's Great Yorkshire Show - England's leading agricultural event.
First prizes were taken by Moya (our 4-year-old champion) and her latest offspring in the Cow and Calf category (pictured) and by Moya and Mhairi (our 2-year-old heifer) in the Highland Pair class. We also won a fourth and fifth prize in other competitions.
We were really pleased with these results as the show attracts many of the UK's top breeders so we were competing against the very best.
We were also surprised to see oursleves splashed across the front page of the Yorkshire Post! Our Highland superstars were selected for a press photo shoot with a group of models who were taking part in the fashion event. Dressed in futuristic outfits and platform heels designed by students from Sheffield Hallam University, the girls posed happily amongst the Highlands who seemed to really love the attention.
The friendly nature of the cattle makes them very popular with guests at The Old Vicarage, especially the children who love to help feed and groom them. We are always pleased to introduce them to you. Their fan club continues to grow!
