Sharing life in Swaledale
Hi, my name is Julia, and I am the proud owner of The Old Vicarage. I restored The Old Vicarage to a high standard with an aim to make it a very special place to stay that also felt like home. When the property came up for sale in 2009 - just two fields away from my home and in an outstanding location - it was too good an opportunity to miss.
I love to meet guests on arrival and enjoy being able to share all that we offer here - particularly Swaledale. You will soon see why it was Wainwright's favourite dale. Having spent two decades exploring the magical countryside, villages and local landmarks, I can help you plan the perfect holiday for your group's needs - from some of the famous nearby attractions to secret spots by the river that are just right for a quiet bit of picnicking or skimming stones. The leisure facilities in particular are ideal for bringing together all the generations and facilitating the making of special memories.
In the fields nearby, you will see my fold of pedigree Highland cattle. They really are extremely happy here on the banks of the Swale and are well mannered and sociable. Many guests enjoy getting close to them and I have fond memories of introducing them to excited youngsters!
Our own super-fresh bantam eggs are just some of the local produce that I use to fill your welcome hamper, and the flowers that greet you on arrival are from our garden when in seaon.
It is important to me to be hands-on and helping guests and I liaise with each party as if they are our first.
Do get in touch and I look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful part of the world.
