The Old Vicarage is an elegant, period, farmhouse-style property that despite its very spacious layout retains the cosiness of a classic country getaway.
The house was built around 1850 as a vicarage for the nearby hamlet of Marrick and has recently been fully renovated by its current owners. It offers an exceptionally high standard of holiday accommodation that is rarely seen in the self-catering sector and has consistently received a 5-star Gold award from Visit England – the highest rating possible for holiday properties in Britain.
We believe The Old Vicarage is unique and it combines a home-from-home experience with carefully designed interiors to bring you an indulgent and luxurious self-catering holiday.
The Old Vicarage has five spacious bedrooms, sleeping nine people or ten using an additional occasional bed. A travel cot for infants is also available on request. The rest of the accommodation comprises a comfortable lounge, elegant dining room, cosy snug, well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen, three luxurious bathrooms, a useful downstairs cloakroom, utility room and pet room.
Each room is individually furnished with a blend of classic antiques, contemporary pieces, original artwork and fine furnishings. Large open sash windows flood each room with natural light and offer the most magical views of the stunning Swale Valley. Each one frames a different aspect that changes in colour and appearance throughout the day, with every season bringing its own distinctive hues. No other properties can be seen from any of the windows; there are just uninterrupted stretches of open countryside, sheep, cattle, the river, wooded hillsides and massive horizons.
We want our guests to feel totally at home so we do our best to anticipate the sort of things that will make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible. Good quality linen and towels are provided and each bed is made up with a luxury duvet, plentiful pillows and additional cushions and throws. A range of toiletries are put in each bathroom, logs are left for the wood-burning stove and we are pleased to provide a welcome hamper of locally sourced produce, together with our own free-range eggs and freshly picked flowers.
