Outstanding leisure facilities for you to enjoy

We offer you exclusive, unlimited and completely private use of extensive and unique leisure facilities, just a short stroll from The Old Vicarage across two small fields.

These facilities, which have to be seen to be appreciated, are housed in beautifully converted stone farm buildings. They include a 15-metre, heated indoor swimming pool with diving board, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and fully equipped gymnasium with table tennis and table football. There is also a full-sized, hard-surface tennis court and football pitch just outside.

Those wanting to keep up with a regular fitness schedule will find everything they need to exercise. There is plenty to occupy family groups looking for a fun leisure activity, or seeking to relax tired muscles after a full day's outdoor activity in the surrounding area.

Guests using any of the leisure facilities have the use of two spacious changing rooms equipped with under-floor heating and showers. There is also a built-in large TV and music system in both the gym and pool areas.

There are no restrictions as to the time of day and how long you can use these facilities for. To ensure your privacy and safety, we ask you to tell us your approximate time slots for using the leisure facilities. Ideally, each evening you message us with your plans for the next day. This system not only ensures Health & Safety procedures are met but also ensures you have complete privacy to enjoy these amenities at your leisure.

At The Old Vicarage, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and have invested in solar panels to generate electricity for the leisure facilities, together with biomass wood-burning boilers to provide hot water throughout the complex, including the pool. You can take a refreshing swim with peace of mind, knowing it’s sustainably heated.

The pool

All abilities are catered for, with gentle steps leading into a shallow end for non-swimmers and a full diving facility at the deep end.

There's an impressive collection of inflatables, swim toys and all the usual aids for swimming and aqua aerobics.

The pool has glass doors leading onto an enclosed walled garden with seating for those warm summer days, and dimmable and underwater lighting for romantic evening dips.

Sauna and steam room

The smart, fully-equipped sauna and a steam room are ideal for relaxing after a busy day outdoors or sight-seeing.

Jacuzzi

The Jacuzzi is at the side of the pool, making it the perfect place to relax while listening to music or keeping a careful watch on other family members as they swim.

Tennis court

This all-weather tennis court is in a beautiful location. Set in an elevated position next to the pool, guests get to practise their Aces amid the sights and sounds of the Yorkshire Dales. Rackets and balls are provided.

Gym

Guests at The Old Vicarage can take advantage of a large and spacious private gym with glass doors down one side so you can enjoy views of the lovely walled garden. It has a running machine, rower, bike, other fitness equipment, full sets of freestanding weights and more exercise aids. The table tennis and table football in here provide options for all.

The pool stable

For a change of pace, just across the courtyard from The Old Vicarage, you'll find the pool stable. This quirky converted space is the perfect chill-out zone away from the main house. Here, you can unwind and challenge friends or family to a game on the full-sized pool table.
