Game, set and match!

With Wimbledon just around the corner, tennis fans will be fine-tuning their serves and perfecting their volleys. And there is no better place to practise than the wonderfully sited, outdoor tennis court that is available to Old Vicarage guests throughout their stay.

Set into the hillside next to the indoor swimming pool, the court has far-reaching views across Swaledale that may distract even the most dedicated players!

In addition to its spectacular elevated location, the court boasts a top-quality all-weather surface that we like to keep in pristine condition. Part of its regular maintenance invloves a thorough deep clean of the surface and the renewal of the sand which gets brushed in to create that all essential underfoot grip. It took several days of hard work and 80 bags of replacement sand to complete the exercise!

One of the things that sets The Old Vicarage apart from other holiday accommodation in the area is the exclusive access to a whole suite of sporting and leisure facilities. As well as the tennis court, there is a superb 15-metre indoor swimming pool with a Jacuzzi and sauna, as well as a fully equipped gym complete with table tennis and table football. These facilities are for your own private use and can be easily accessed across two small fields.

In the grounds of The Old Vicarage itself, there is a converted stable that houses a cosy recreation area with pool table.
