Snow in Autumn

Snow in Autumn

Have you seen snow on autumn leaves before?  We certainly can’t remember a sight like this but recently we had a covering of snow in Swaledale when the landscape was still in its autumnal prime.

This photograph was taken of the private stretch of river that runs just below The Old Vicarage. It is a beautiful spot and offers guests a lovely place to visit, whether you want to sit and observe the wildlife; throw stones in the water with the children; try your hand at fishing; or organise a family picnic.

We’ve not had a repeat of the snow yet (which only lasted a day or so) but winter is definitely fast approaching. This is a very special time to visit the Yorkshire Dales. The surrounding countryside can be breathtaking - especially when you get beautiful clear skies on frosty days - and outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the fact that they can walk or cycle for miles, often in peaceful solitude.

However you choose to spend your day, there is always the added bonus of snuggling up in front of the roaring log fires or taking a swim in the indoor pool followed by a session in the luxurious sauna or Jacuzzi.
