The colder weather in recent weeks has been giving us some real Christmas card scenery. Clear blue skies, sugary frosts and even a few fallings of snow certainly transform the landscape into a winter wonderland.
Our resident Highland cattle aren't fazed a bit by this change in temperature. Their thick, shaggy coats provide excellent protection during cold weather and they are particularly skillful at browsing for food even when the vegetation is covered by snow. This hardiness is one of the things that make the breed so popular in more northern climates.
The snow is no problem to human inhabitants either. The Old Vicarage is always toasty warm and the open fire is lovely to come back to after a day out on the hills. There is also the added bonus of the heated indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi and sauna - perfect for relaxing on a winter's day or evening.
